Beaverton, Ore., February 1, 2007 - Consumer Electronics Powerline Communications Alliance (CEPCA), a not-for-profit industry organization whose mission is to ensure co-existence between various high-speed, powerline communication (PLC) systems for use in the home, today elevated SiConnect to the position of Promoter member.
SiConnect is a fabless semiconductor company headquartered in Swindon, United Kingdom.
“With the move to Promoter status, SiConnect will play an active role in creating and standardizing technical specifications, allowing different PLC systems to coexist and achieve optimal performance,” said Mike Stelts, CEPCA Chairman. “We are excited to have SiConnect as our first European Promoter company, which further diversifies the geographic representation of CEPCA members.”
“We look forward to working with our fellow PLC promoters within CEPCA,” said Robert Stead, SiConnect. “SiConnect has been a long-time advocate of the need for an industry-wide PLC co-existence standard, so we are thrilled to be able to get more actively involved in developing the technical specifications.”
Since its inception in May 2005, the CEPCA has grown to include eight Promoter members (including SiConnect) and ten Contributor members. CEPCA continues adding members to its organization in order to encourage widespread adoption of high-speed PLC technology in a broad range of products.
